Who is Lou?

Lou Vicious developed very naturally.

‘best vicious, Lou’ – I formally used this tag for street art and online presences. Over the years I continued to use this name for several little projects – but without any consistency. The common ground of these projects is, that they are personal and go beyond what is generally defined as photography. They exist as the results of what I formerly used photography for: self expression.

This shows in different facets: through self portraits, as being a model for other photographers, writing and music – and there is more to come.

Now I chose to put aside those “mind made” boundaries through which I only restricted myself.

Lou Vicious is more than a name and more than a project.
It’s more than a concept and more than a character. It’s a synonym for the aspects of myself that need expression and that seek expansion.

Lou Vicious is very intuitive and finds perfect order in chaos.

While creating images was something I could not not do, when I discovered photography as a tool for expression; after deciding to learn the craft. I told myself taking self portraits was something that I should stop doing. I thought, that I could be perceived as untrustworthy or vain and thereby nipped in the bud of any inspiration and shut off a channel that once was very invigorating to me.
